israir.pngMy wife and I are flying to Israel for a week vacation/business trip in early January. We already booked our flights on El Al, which is what most people do when they fly to Israel. You can also fly with other airlines, such as Continental and a new one named Israir. Anyway, my wife forwarded me this PDF sales flyer from Israir that said they have a 40 hour sale, for “Jerusalem’s 40 year of celebration” where a one way flight to Tel Aviv is $40 from New York. Now, a round trip from NY To TLV is normally anywhere between $750 to $1,500 depending on the season.

The deal with this promotion is that it is $40 for one way, but you need to buy a round trip ticket. So I wonder how much it is for you to get back to NY? 🙂

For your own sake…do not fly ISRAIR!!!

I just flew Israir with my family for Sukkot to Israel….they ARE AWFUL.

    You will regret it.

For a blow by blow me.

That’s a One-Way fare based on a Round-trip purchase. (Same price for the way back.)

You can expect to pay a few hundred bucks in taxes because it’s an international flight.

It sounds too good to be true. That’s not even close to covering the cost of fuel. (They would loose less money if they flew the plane empty)

Sometimes airlines discount airfare to the break even point. (Cost of fuel, etc per average passenger and baggage weight, ticketing and inventory cost, etc.)

For that price… You would be lucky if you could fly Round-Trip between Oahu and Maui.

I’d say go for it. (If it’s real)

    Hi Barry,

I just called to find flights for my sister. You can get a round trip with that deal for about $580, including all taxes and everything. Still a pretty good deal.

Too bad it doesn’t work vice versa, or I would visit NY in December. Guess I’ll just wait for everyone to get out here.
